The journey of a thousand miles – Cape Town

Most of today was taken up by flying on my horrendous Malaysian airlines flight to Cape Town via Johannesburg. The flight was made all the more horrendous by the two Asian people sitting next to me who refused to let me move. Even when it was time for me to get off the plane in Capetown, they just sat there and I basically had to climb over them. We were also not allowed off the plane in Johannesburg and just had to sit there for about two hours.

I finally reached Cape Town and after standing in the longest customs queue of my life managed to get out of the airport and meet my transfer, who thankfully was still there even though the flight had also been delayed an hour.

He drove me to my hotel, called Saasveld lodge, quite a bit different from the Hilton, but so much more cosy and I felt a bit more comfortable there. I did a quick repack of my bag, before going out to look for some food. I had only eaten complete rubbish for the last three days and really wanted a proper meal. Kloof street in Cape Town was probably the absolute best place to get a good meal and I settled for a nice Italian place. The part of Cape Town I’m in, vaguely resembles Newtown in its trendiness.

After lunch I went back to the hotel intent on only resting my eyes for a while, and then woke up at 4am. Damn jet lagged again!
