It was really nice that today we weren’t going anywhere. I slept in and then went on the village tour. We all walked through the doors of the camping ground and were immediately set on by hawkers. Luckily my experience in Egypt told me to ignore them. Everyone else managed to get themselves an annoying hawker all to themselves.
They took us to the school and to the hospital and there were more kids to play with, but all in all everyone just seemed to want money, which was a bit annoying. It was a long walk back and of course they took us via the souvenir hut. I immediately saw a beautiful sunset painting that I wanted and paid out 2500 kwatcha for it. Which isn’t much.
We trekked back to camp and I spent the rest of the afternoon on the beach and in the lake. A few hawkers came up and tried to annoy me while I was sunbaking but I just pretended I was asleep. For the rest of the day I decided to pull up a hammock and read the rest of my book. I have converted to the dark side and started reading the Twilight series, I finished New Moon in two days. I will need to hunt down the next one.
For dinner we had a spit roast pig, some of the group actually went to the village to see it killed and Dave was determined to make me go because I love pork so much, but I flatly refused. It was bad enough seeing the whole animal roasting over the open fire. Didn’t stop me from eating it, and at one point picking at the carcass with Dave and Charles. There were part of pig all over the table and Dave actually served me the head on a silver plate, which I pretended to take a bite out of. Good Times.
